Literally Media’s beloved and well-known staple site Cheezburger is looking for a talented writer/editor, who enjoys and understands humor and Internet culture and can work quickly and to a high standard with different teams, writing about trending topics. You’ll be writing for one (or more) of the main Cheezburger brands: Fail Blog, Memebase, ICanHasCheezburger, Animal Comedy, and Cheezcake.

Tasks and Responsibilities

●       Search for trending/new content that could fit our global audience.

●       Write interesting and entertaining content: sum up funny meme lists, add your own introduction and commentary to trending discussions you find on Reddit, pick out the greatest tweets around a specific topic and write something about that topic, and more.

●       Create Facebook thumbnails, IG posts and stories, and TikToks to help promote your content.

●       Work together with the creative team to strategize new ways for brand growth.

Qualifications:

●       Native English speaker (a must!)

●       Excellent grammar skills and story-telling abilities

●       Must be creative and quick on your feet and on the keyboard

●       Must love and understand internet culture, pop culture, and web communities (seriously, you must love the internet, weird YouTube channels, cool Reddit threads, the newest meme trends, etc.)

●       Must be agile, versatile and able to work with different teams, local and long-distance.

●       Experience in content writing, editing and professional social media work – a significant advantage

●       Skills in video creation/editing – an advantage

Know Your Meme is looking for a Creative Development Coordinator to help with our digital video efforts for platforms like Snapchat, YouTube and TikTok. That means you will be working on the leading internet culture reference site creating both short-form and long-form videos for tens of millions of people across our social channels. This position will be supported by the entire Know Your Meme editorial team, who come equipped with years of experience in meme research and online publishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pitching and developing new episodes and series on a weekly basis
  • Writing scripts, treatments and episode outlines about topics related to memes and internet culture
  • Video editing for a variety of social platforms (so knowledge of how to optimize video content across multiple platforms is a must)
  • Development tracking and providing feedback on scripts, pitches, treatments and cuts
  • Create, update, and share weekly development report

Basic Qualifications

FAIL Blog is hiring!

FAIL Blog is the tastefully irreverent branch of the Cheezburger family. We specialize in internet culture and all things schadenfreude. Fail Blog’s part of the Literally Media family, which also includes Know Your Meme, Ebaum’s World, Cracked, and Cheezburger (FAIL Blog, Memebase, I Can Has Cheezburger, and Cheezcake). 

We’re looking for a full-time editor to join the team. That means you’ll be working on lists, articles, and videos, and will take part in managing all of our social media assets. You’ll be supported by a team of highly experienced editors, who have a deep understanding of online publishing. We believe in being self-driven, but also supporting each other to be successful. With a strong emphasis on experimentation (as well as being data-driven) our focus is on creating a fun experience for our audience.

Job Focus

Literally Media is seeking an Executive Producer to lead all of our cross-platform video efforts across all Literally Media brands, and to work closely with the editorial and content creation teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting our overall video strategy, creating and managing our video production budget, and holding themselves accountable for delivering the required amount of video output across all of our distribution platforms. 

In this role you will manage a team of editors and producers, be responsible for growing and scaling the video team and video output, build our overall video strategy and growth plan, and set appropriate goals and KPIs, delivering results across key audience and revenue metrics.  You will be required to manage both the creative and operational side of the video business – which requires both expertise in leading a talented team of creators while also strategically mapping out team and performance growth, and being confident in communicating a plan and key performance results to peers and the Literally Media executive team.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop, create and oversee the creation of all Literally Media video (short-form, mid-form, and long form) for all Literally Brands across all distribution platforms
  • Develop and build short-term and long-term strategy and production budgets for entire Literally Media video business; lead team to hit appropriate margins on all video production
  • Partner with and work closely with Literally Media editorial teams to drive high quality video narratives and ensure that the ethos of each Literally Media brand is met across all video efforts
  • Leverage celebrities and influencers to build respective brand affinity and drive audience engagement to all video efforts
  • Drive production excellence by optimizing distribution for every piece of video created  
  • Build strong, positive working relationships with distribution partners (Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, etc)
  • Set appropriate video-related KPIs; rally and motivate video team to hit growth targets
  • Unite video, social and editorial efforts through a single brand vision and voice

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in leading video teams, preferably within digital media
  • Management experience: 2+ years of hands-on people management experience
  • A complete understanding of social media platforms and distribution; specifically around how to strategically optimize video for each platform
  • A demonstrated track record of technical leadership and delivering results
  • A proven track record of growing audiences and driving user engagement, while meeting commercial revenue goals
  • Previous experience in creating digital video that was at the center of conversation and drove huge engagement – and understanding why that particular video drove the results it did
  • Demonstrated success utilizing data to inform content development and programming strategies

What will you do:

Audience Development

  • Create and manage lasting partnerships to grow brand audience and loyalty, which includes partnerships with:
    • Creators/Influencers
    • 3rd party platforms 
    • Media companies
  • Grow newsletter subscriber base to enable monetization
    • Optimize design, cadence, open rate, etc of currently slate of LM newsletters 
    • Explore acquisition and/or partnerships with other newsletters and email distribution lists
  • Strategize and create bespoke user experiences to grow the brand, including but not limited to Community building, Audience funnel, and User journey
  • Understand and become an expert in best practices and tools to drive audience growth to our brands (SEO, partnerships, site optimization, newsletter optimization, and others)

Platform Management

  • Own all administrative aspects of our current and future platforms including, but not limited to Newsletters and Audience Development tools
  • Take lead on future platform projects and process enhancements (automate where possible)

Reporting and Insights

  • Provide  daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc insight reporting into subscriber status and ways to see immediate growth
  • Track progress against targets, and create new achievable targets

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience leading email products in a digital publishing company
  • An audience-first mentality with experience developing smart email content strategies
  • Experience in audience growth through leveraging data to drive strategic direction
  • Demonstrable experience executing and optimizing email marketing campaigns
  • Strong understanding of email best practices
  • Understand CAN-SPAM/CASL/GDPR requirements and inbox deliverability standards

Job Focus & Responsibilities

We are seeking an organized, meticulous, self-managed, results-driven Head of Product and Technology  who is passionate about the Literally Media brands and working with data at scale. As a Head of Product and Technology, you will lead the Data Insights team; a small and growing, high-impact group of people with Engineering, Data Science, and Design skills that build and support data products that are utilized organization-wide at Literally Media. 

This is a key position within the organization and will work closely with all organizational units to build out our data infrastructure to support our core business and new initiatives.

A successful candidate should feel confident with modern data technologies and tools, have an in-depth understanding of digital media and publishing, and have a data-driven mindset. The candidate will report directly to our CEO, in Brooklyn, NY.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and own the company product roadmap with alignment to company strategy
  • Work with product, design, and engineering to create an experience that increases reader engagement, builds loyalty, and drives revenue and subscriber growth
  • Manage our Data Insights team
  • Cultivate relationships with the editorial and creative teams to elevate and articulate the brand vision.
  • Define product architecture and implementations

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+  years of hands-on product management—strategy, analysis, roadmap ownership, and day-to-day product ideation—across multiple functional areas
  • You’re a builder, with experience launching both front-end, user-facing tools, along with deep, intricate platforms
  • 3+ years of technical team leadership; setting Annual Goal , KPI’s and Performance Reviews.
  • Decision making, and prioritization on daily tasks and projects based on business ROI impact
